Consistent with State and Federal Law, the University of Utah provides reasonable accommodations to staff and faculty who request them due to religious beliefs, practices or observances, as long as the requested accommodation does not pose an undue hardship. The University's Human Resources Management Department (UHRM) is charged with determining reasonable accommodations under Title VII. Requests for accommodation are reviewed on a case-by-case basis with the help of the individual's home department leader(s) with a need to know, and as needed to process the request.
Under Title VII, if an employee/faculty is experiencing conflicts or barriers at work, due to religious belief(s) or religious practice(s), they can request an accommodation to help remove such conflict(s) or barrier(s).
Campus staff and faculty can use the University's Accommodation Request Form to identify the following:
After you complete your submission, UHRM will notify you if additional information is needed to evaluate your request, will discuss your request with your home department leader(s) (with a need-to-know basis), and will inform you of any accommodation(s) that can be provided.
Discussions with your department leader(s) are only performed as necessary to process your accommodation request. If you have questions or concerns, please contact hraccommodations@utah.edu, or 801-213-1346.
UUHC employees may request an accommodation through an online form in PULSE or by contacting UUHC HR directly.
