Kronos Rounding Rules for Non-exempt employees
Our Kronos Timekeeping System is programmed with "15 Minute" rounding to the nearest 15 minute mark. Here is how the process works;
- Punch Rounding:
- Punch Rounding- Employee hours, exclusive of meal breaks, will be rounded to the nearest quarter hour
- Seven (7) minutes or less will round back the quarter hour
- Eight (8) minutes or more will round forward to the quarter hour
- Shift Example: punches from 7:53 to 8:07 will round to 8:00, punches from 8:08 to 8:22 are rounded to 8:15,
punches from 8:23 to 8:37 are rounded to 8:30, and punches from 8:38 to 8:52 are rounded to 8:45.
- Punch times should not be altered to manipulate the rounding rules within Kronos. The time the punch occurred
is the time the employee either started or stopped working and is a required legal record of the employee's time and pay.
- A system that rounds up or down to the nearest quarter hour is allowed under the FLSA requirements as the rounded
time will average out based on shift or daily accumulation.
